so i had a 6 pointer come in at 20 yds this morning , put the pin on the sweet spot and let it fly. i hear a sharp crack noise like hitting bone maybe? he just jogs 10 yds behind me then back again so i saw both sides of him and somehpw never saw the arrow. he never really ran but went another 20 yds and stopped wavering then took off again. waited 20 minutes and came down and had blood right away so since i had last seen him over 100 yds waited another hour before 2 others helped me track. after about a half mile no more blood. at about 2/3 of the way i find my arrow and heres the odd part. the broadhead end was clean except for trace blood on the blades and some hair. the nock half of the arrow was soaked in blood . it makes no sense as it was a 20 yd shot from 16 ft in the air, the nock end should have been up and the point down. sadly after giving up 7 hours later no buck was found :( woulda been my first

Deer are tough animals, they hate to get shot. Sounds like you missed vitals and he will walk to see another day. Get back on the horse and take high percentage shots next time

High percentage shots??? It was a twenty yard shot???

Sorry to hear that. Kinda strange you couldnt see your arrow sticking through unless it hit ribs and took a sharp turn into the guts or brisket. That happened to me some years ago, but the arrow passed through between his legs. Only got one lung and had to get another shot several hours later to finish the deal. Sometimes these things happen. Broadheads usually make it through pretty clean though. The shaft and fletching are gonna have all the blood on it. Keep after it!
