Week #10 comes from our first video - Hunting with a Purpose - Volume 1. Flyers was one of the premier hunts on that video and served an important life lesson for me in the process...Some of you will remember this story from early October, 2008...I think you'll like it!

He was 4 1/2 that year. I have a shed off him from 2 years previous. The buck with him was a lot bigger (body-wise) and was 5 1/2 at the time. I had him close once more that season (late) but couldn't seal the deal.

If he returns, he will be 7 1/2 this year.
 
I am no expert on age, but he sure does not look like a 4 1/2 yr old body. I'd say 2 1/2 maybe 3 ? I have one being aged by tooth by the DNr, just because I am curious. This buck being aged had a way-heftier body. The Biologist examined the jaw and said 3 1/2 maybe 4. He sent a tooth in for crossection. I am new at seeing these older deer, so I am trying to get a handle on aging. To me the thrill is more the age,,than the rack.
