Video yourself

I have been wanting to video my self on stand or ground. Has anyone ever tried mounting a camera say 10 feet behind themselves and using manual focus to fix in about 20 yards beyond themselves to get that behind the hunter shot. I wonder if a motion sensor would be ideal or not?

It would work fine as long as you have a remote control for your camera. If you dont care about being in the picture just get a tree arm they work pretty slick

i bought a tree arm for my cam this year, thought it would be great but ended up not using it because I couldnt manuever it fast enough to catch all the deer out of range that were to far to shoot, or deer that came in from behind me, i decided that a buddy is the only way to go

DOR, have you tried this? I do want to be in the video, thats why I asked. I want to set the video up so that I took up just enough of the screen to see me draw on the deer. Blured it will be but I want to capture The draw, release and the hit (hopefully). Just wondering if anyone has tried this? I'm also in the market for a new video with remote, any suggestions?
Thanks

As lve4rut says a buddy is the best hands down, but thats not always an option. I was able to capture some great footage this year using a cheap gorilla tree arm...even got a bear kill on it all by my lonesome. But you could set up a camera on a tripod behind you like you mentioned if your depth of feild is set correctly. The only problem i see you having is the deer cooperating.
I jumped in full tilt this sept and bought a GL2 from cannon. An awesome camera, but probably more than most people want to spend. It takes professional footage, no doubt about it.
