Wanna Kill A July Whitetail?

THA4

A Few Steps Ahead Of You
Its late, I'm bored and for a lack of interesting content on here this time of year, I found something to at least think about.

Florida's archery deer season starts today, July 30th.....'

Florida Hunting Regs

Its just weird to even think about hunting deer this time of year... It just doesn't seem right, but I guess if its legal, have at it, eh?
:drink1:

They may have a small body but they can have some good headgear. When I went gator hunting last year the guy that I went with showed me pics of a 200 plus incher that a friend of his on the fire dept killed. I guess it was the state record. I never seen one deer while I was there though.

A guy I knew went deer hunting with a buddy down there many years ago. Buddy shot a ten-pointer. They skinned it where it dropped, quartered it and the quarters fit in one regular cooler to carry out. Like you said, about the size of a dog. The pythons probably eat the big ones!!!

My guess is that it would be hot and buggy. As much as I want to climb in a stand right now, I think that would change my mind.

I would never hunt that season, just keeping myself occupied while I was up all night not able to sleep....

it would be an interesting experience however... not on my dime tho

lets see 95 degrees and a heat index of 115 how long after a shot would you have to have that deer found and out of the woods before its bad?

AZ's early archery season opens in 2 weeks (13 August). Still in velvet an the mountains are beautiful and cool. There are some BIG desert muleys, but its still triple digits in most of those areas and you have to learn to sidestep rattlesnakes.

Come on down, Josh!! We (family hike) just hiked into a stock tank in the pines I know of that has a double ladder stand all ready in place and plenty of space for a ground blind. It's going to be my primary spot for the 3-week season. Lots of views of elk while waiting for a muley buck! A buddy that showed me the place got a decent 3x3 out of there 2 years ago. Our archer season opens back up for 3 weeks in December and then the entire month of January (our rut). The desert cools off by then and some of the high country units are still open for snow-tracking!

I don't think I could afford all the Thermacell refill packets I would have to buy for a Florida hunt.

A hunt in the Arizona mountains sounds much more appealing (minus the snakes of course).
