Water Hole Tips

I'm adding a beautiful little 1ac clover field that would be perfect for adding a water hole, any tips and tricks? How big is too big? Has anyone used a pond liner like they have for landscaping instead of rubbermade troughs?

My favorite one Ive built I used a tractor tire with one sidewall cut out and poured concrete in the bottom to seal it. I made sure I had it in the lowest area possible so the natural runoff would help keep it full.

Deep & steep & made of clay if making one. I haven’t used pond liner. Used rubber mades & made em so they fill themselves. I’m gonna try some different types. Will follow up on how goes & like hearing what others doing too
