We Put The Smack Down!!!

We headed down south for our annual 2nd season turkey hunt, and we again put a dent in the turkey population! Story #1 is my bird. I had spent all day Friday and Saturday morning on some new ground we got. By Friday night i had the birds movements and roosting areas down so i was feeling pretty good about Saturday Morning. I got set up 80 yards from 4 toms that morning and i knew these birds were going to fly right down on top of me. The problem was someone should of told the hunter on the other property not to walking in on turkey in the light. All the bird seen him and took off. So i moved a couple more times and finally had a tom coming into my call. And he was hot. I had him spitting and drumming not more then 30 yards from me. He just needed to clear the brush and game would be over. All of a sudden he started putting and he took of flying. Then i hear some guy yell find any shrooms yet. I took the gun off safty but then thought better about it!:D So pissed off it went to another farm and seen a tom with 2 hens out in the middle of a pasture. So the stock was on. After about 1/4 mile of crawl i was with in 100 yards of the birds. I just needed to creast the hill and shoot. I run over the hill and there they are. About 60 yards away. The tom had his back to me so he had no idea i was there. He stuck hip head up and Boom. Turkey on the ground!

The next story is off my dads bird. We seen a big Tom Saturday Morning in a draw and knew he would be back there in the evening to roost with the hens. We got there Saturday night and the tom and hens were already standing wear we were going to set up. So we tried to sneek up on them but the hens seen me and they were gone. So we set up there Sunday morning knowing they were close. I head the tom gobbling but knew he was close to a mile away in the next draw. So i got out the load slate call and started to let her rip. To my surprise the tom was coming closer. After about 30min of calling i had the bird standing 1/4 mile away from us looking for us. This is when the pretty boy works to a T. For you guys that have not seen the pretty boy in action it is a thing of beauty! I had the strutten 360 on the pretty boy and the minute i started moving the pretty boy this Tom came running from over a 1/4 mile. At 20 yards dad put the hammer down!

Jason shot this big Tom in the same spot as my dad with the same set up. This guy kick the crap out of the pretty boy before Jason let him have it!

Yes he did! 1.25 in spurs and a 11in beard! I can't believe his luck! It must be his guide!:D

Way to fight through adversity on your hunt. I feel your pain, I've had several hunts foiled this year by legal/illegal passerbys. Nice job man. :drink2:
