Weather Sucks

We're suppossed to get 4-6 inches of snow tonight and tomorrow. It'll be a white turkey season up here. Should be interesting.

I was about to make the same post and ask for some veteran advice. I've hunted turkeys quite a bit - but never in weather like what we're supposed to get up here in MN this weekend. Rain, snow, slush, wind, and temps in the mid 30s.

I had 7 toms gobbling on Wednesday morning in one small chunk of timber (crystal clear calm morning) - then the wind came up yesterday and today and I heard nothing.

What's best - just wait them out? What worked for some of you guys during the youth season when the weather was crap down there?

pop up a blind and make yourself comfortable. id set up in an area you know they will be at some point during the day. pack a lunch, bring a book and a comfy chair and wait. Thats what id do if it got crappy like that! The turkeys will still do their thing, you just gotta be there!

Good luck!!

After it's over go out with a shovel and find a nice spot. Get rid of a patch of snow a little larger than the blind and set it up. It's nice not to have to sit in snow all day. Then do everything THA4 just said. Dress warm and bring a thermos of coffee or cocoa. Wait em out and turn a negative into as much a positive as possible. I remember back in about 95 or 96 it snowed 14" in southern Iowa right before 1st season. We didn't hunt in blinds back then so we put on white Tyvec painting suits from work and hit the trail. The only wild turkey we killed that year was in the form of a bottle. But we tried.
