Have not been near a computer for awhile. Thot some on here might get a chuckle out of my ranting about the weather again. Got to say it is a challenge to grow things in Iowa! Howling winds,,threat of freeze, then the crazy rain movements. Now last week my clay had plenty of moisture. Not really needing anymore. Got my wish though. Was driving across the state this weekend. Saturday,, Huge area of rain across western Iowa stretching all thee way to Oskaloosa, where it dwindled east to Bloomfield and Wapello Co. Then Sunday, another big area of precip in Western Iowa and a second Huge area along and east of the Mississippi. In between a narrow band of shwrs moved across Davis and Wapello Counties Sunday afternoon. One to two inches of rain common on either side of these areas. Very interesting,,to weather fanatics anyway.

Funny!! No cloud seeding, just my observations of how fickle the atmosphere is. It all evens out in a yrs time but during Summers, moisture is at a premium usually in my area. My records show two years we had endless rain and flooding during the Summer. Four Seasons we had drought. Theother spot I reside in near DesMoines has had 5 Summers of flooding or almost, and one Summer of drought in the past 11 yrs.

No I don't think they are seeding either but I saw a show the other day and it does happen more than I thought. Texas for one and China before the olympics so they would have sunny days. I reside just across the river from SE Iowa. Last year was good but we had 2 or 3 years of low rainfall and have lost many trees and still losing from it. This winter and spring is setting up the same dry conditions unless the pattern changes. I've lost many seedling cedars that had taken off in growth last summer from dry conditions this winter. But it is mother nature and things will change.

Yes I know. I live west of you. Last few yrs the rains have dwindled as they moved East twards Burlington. Since I have moved to Iowa I have seen this trend. Not sure why?. Especially in the Summer. Glad my place is further west.

Looking pretty safe to plant beans next week. I don't see anything but 70+ degree days and 50+ degree nights. I think I am going to get as many of the bean plots in as I can in.

Was a good week for sure for planting. Now, maybe next week will be wet? Hope so. Still deficits in inches in SE Iowa for the year. And,,the Heat sapping SUN is climbing higher.

I'm in a frost pocket. Everyone else is setting at 40 this morning. Here it is 35. Replant tomatoes.

Don't say that. I put squash plants out yesterday and left for DesMoines. I saw a little frost up here this morn. Hope East of Ottumwa didn't  Drat! Looks like the best rain next week will focus on the I-80 corridor too.
