Weird Question Metal Detector

Well I sort of have a weird request. During the excitement after shooting my buck in IL this year I lost one of my good watches in the field (took it off and left it behind when gutting him). I was just curious if there was anyone on here that might have a metal detector that they would be willing to teach a guy how to use and lend out for a few days. Because of the snow I am sure I should wait until march or so unless we have a really good melt off before I go searching so it would be some time before I would need to borrow it. I have a general idea of the area but we where the buck was laying is some taller grass and I think the watch got burried making it hard to catch a glimpse of the shine. I would appreciate anyones help.

Wish I could help you out with the metal detector.

Bonker used to have one... I'm not sure if he knows how to use it though. After watching him trying to find arrows at the first rendezvous I have my doubts.

Seriously though, my dad has one you can use.

Muddy sounds good, we will have to make a shedding trip out of it if the weather ever warms up.

You can use mine. It does pretty good at finding arrows that burrow into the grass. I think I know where every piece of junk in my yard is. It doesn't work too well in tall grass. It might work in tall grass with a large object like a watch though.

Muuddy has my digits.

I still owe ya one you can use mine if needed.

pharmer, depends on what your looking for??? Vacations and beaches are great for jewelry. Any ole farm unit, just get to know the sounds of the detector or you will be digging alot of crap up(we found a 5"x10" bronze "Iowa standard school" plaque, fairbanks art bronze, Jamestown, NY)at our last house. Pretty cool find, hanging on wall now, probably donate it to one of the local muesems. Schools, if allowed, are good for change, bleachers and such. In WV we would do some research and search pastures for civil war items. Alot of slugs, a few buckles and buttons and such. Fun hobby to find artifacts with.

Where do you all use your metal detectors? What are your best (besides Muddy's digits) finds?

Best thing I ever found was the arrows that missed the target and burrowed into the lawn. It does a pretty good job finding 'em with just the 100 grain tip and the insert. As far as other stuff, I've found a bolt, a broken hitch pin, a couple of nuts, several bricks that for some reason set off the detector, parts of aluminum cans, empty brass, nails, screws, flexable conduit, an LP tank valve, pop tops, and Jimmy Hoffa.

Just kidding, I never really found the broken hitch pin.

My wife is just facsinated with "finding" stuff. I think she would have loved any of the gold rushes.

I asked because of my wife. She has the detecting bug in our family. She runs a different detector based on what she is looking for on what site. She has a Garrett, a Fisher, and a Minelab. Not much room to complain about what hunting toys cost.

I have a Tesoro Silver Sabre Umax and live near I.C. If you want another Detector when you and Muddy hit the field just let me know and you can use mine.
