What a morning!

I stepped out at first light to empty the ashes from the wood burner. The geese were honking down on the river and it must have hit a nerve with three different gobblers. They were sounding off pretty good. I may have a hard time making it to work at all this spring.

May have to wear head-phones or ear plugs until I make it to the truck.

I was a little early heading to work this morning to hear any gobbling, but the smell of Spring was in the air.

Was glad to leave Des Moines and head South...we had 49 degrees and no snow while shed hunting yesterday afternoon.

With all the snow up North I can't even drive back to my place.
First time in tens years.
Hopefully I will be able to next week after the 50 degree temps.

Oh now that is harsh haha. Yeah we're sitting good here on 10 inches of snow and 27 degrees, cloudy... ya know spring weather

You know what they say about March; in like a lion, out like a lamb. Keepin my fingers crossed. I like winter and all but sometimes you are about ready for spring.

I'm really kind of hesitant to go out and listen this early because once i start, I can't stop. Gobbling=Crack for me

Had a buddy call me this morning from down in southern Iowa and he had two strutters in his back yard that were gobbling. This happens every year, and I realize that prime time is still 5 weeks away but those limbhangers have definiatley got some "hen" on their minds! Only 40 more days!!!!!!!!

While shed hunting yesterday afternoon, I came across a large group of birds feeding in a field.

I stood at the timber edge as I watched three Toms blow up and strutt around in the sun.

Pretty Cool!

Looks like the thaw is coming but it is taking it's sweet old time.
