One story, this is my first year bow hunting, and one of my brothers "The Hunter" has been hunting bow for about 5+ years and have never goting a deer, and shure as you know, My first day in the tree i got a big buck! whated my hour, jumped out of the tree to get the "Hunter" and we found the deers blood, and flowed it 250+ before we found were it found its resting spot, next to the road, were a car or a truck, picked up my first deer! what are they thinking

I really feel for you Chip. Sure, in your heart you know you got your first deer, but I know you also wanted those photos to show at work and when the family get together at Thanksgiving, etc. It really stinks what happened to you.

DOR is right. Whoever the idiot is will be so proud of himself he won't be able to keep his stupid mouth shut. I had something similar happen to me last spring, where a guy purposly snuck in between me and the gobbler I was working, shot the bird and took off. I know who the guy is now because he couldn't help himself but brag about it in a bar a couple nights later. Turns out the landowner where I hunt knows him too. That guy is no longer welcome on that piece of ground or any of the adjoining property. (It pays to make friends with your landowners!)

Like DOR also said, there's lots of season left to go, keep working to fill that tag!

I too have had this happen, as has my brother myself with a 140 class 8 pt that was shot in december back in 93 and my brother witha nice doe that slid off a bluff onto the road.

There is a lot you can do about it..but just remeber it and if you continue to bowhunt....learn form this and use the golden rule when in the field.

There is still a lot of season left get back out there and remember your first deer with a bow no matter what it is, is areal trophy.

If your local to the area where this happened ask around...most peolple who do stupid things such as this will blab about it..if you find out who did it, you probably still won't get your deer back, but at least you'll know who not to trust in the area.

best of luck i hopethe rest of your season goes well....remember persistance pays off in the end.

I would be thinking about how much traffic travels the road. If it's a gravel (as most in Ia) and has light use. The first thing would have been to contact local residents. You might even srumble upon your deer. They thought it was a road kill! RIGHT

If you really want to know try every locker within a 60 mile radius. This guy probally just bought a bow tag and took it in.

thanks, i do wish i did get it, and would like to be eating it, but that is life, hope he chokes on a bone, lol, thanks

If you do find this so called person, shove an antler up his rectum so he will always have a piece of your deer close to him.

Once again, NON HUNTERS.
