What are your thoughts?

I have been watching a group of turkeys now for a couple weeks. The flock varies in size. I have seen as many as 7 toms and as little as 3 at one time in the group.

I plan on taking a youth hunter Saturday morn. I am very confident that I can get him on one of these birds because I know where they roost and where they fly down. I also know thier travel route. I watch them every morning and afternoon.

My question is, if I help him get a bird Saturday morning do you think it would be to early to hunt these birds again Monday morning?

Just wanted to get some opinions as I do have another spot that I could go to.

not at all, in most cases, each morning you get a clean slate with turkeys, especially if you are careful about the pressure you are putting on. if you shoot one bird, i dont think you will have a problem on Monday morning.
IMO

THA4 is right. I know a guy that peppered a bird at 12:30 in the afternoon and then killed the same bird 7 hours later! Dumb bird! Lets see who was that anyway? /forum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif

Id try to hunt them Saturday along there travel route as far away from the roost as you can and still feel confident in getting a shot, to make sure not to influence them to roost somewhere else then as close as you feel comfortable getting to them on the roost Monday morning

I agree 100%.

Another thing will be how bad you bust them up.
If they take off in all directions they may go their own way
and will take them a day or two to get back together.

If when they hear the shot they just sit and look at you or run in the opposite direction but do not fly you should be okay for Monday.

Let us know how it goes and good luck.

Called 5 in and had a buddy shoot one in the a.m. and then called the other 4 in that evening and shot one in the same spot. I don't think they mind much. I wouldn't jump up and grab your dead bird till after they left though. Good luck!!
