what colors can deer see

Deer are color blind, can't see colors. They can smell anything, you need to hunt the wind.

Research has shown deer see some color shades, seeing blue's best. So, no blue jeans I guess

DOR is right, but I also think they can see the Ultraviolet "glow" of flourescent colors like blaze orange, at least to some degree. A bright blaze orange is more likely to get you picked off IMHO.

Deer can see shades of blue, as was stated in an earlier post....and no, they can't see blaze orange. Many years and stare-downs both on the ground and in the tree while wearing blaze orange has taught me that. They can CERTAINLY smell you and pick up on movement, though! Like Liv said, play the wind.

On a side note....go and get your hands on some good hunting magazines. Deer and Deer Hunting is the best one out there. It is not your "big buck" magazine, but deals with biology, ecology and hunting lore as well....and that's why I love it. You will learn a ton from it.....

I read somewhere years ago that the safety color least seen by deer was floresent pink. I'm glad we wear orange...could you imagine - PINK?
