I just saw this a few days ago on another forum. I had an old guy show me one time an article, I forget now if it was in a book or a magazine that said bucks will ejaculate periodically over the months leading up to the rut toi increas and maintain testosterone levels for breeding. I will ask him next time I see him and see if he remembers where it was at.

Just talked to the guy. Says it was in Gene Wensels Bowhunting Rutting Whitetails.
