What the heck is?

A chinese rope or knot? I was talking to a guy who had a very old wooden treestand that he still uses regularly. He said the attaching strap was a chinese rope. I told him he was crazy to trust a 20 year old rope but he said it works like new. Anybody know what it is? Why it isn't used anymore? Pictures? He tried to descibe it but we were drinking beer in a loud bar and I couldn't follow his description, but he swore it was better than anything out there today.

Have you ever seen the old style NonTypical brand, Rapid Rail tree ladders. They used the Chinese Rope or "Constrictor Rope".

There is also a guy who makes a small diameter constrictor rope for use on Lone Wolf products. He calls them "UCR's", utility constrictor ropes and sells them from his home.

Constrictor ropes work nicely for ladders, especially the Rapid Rail ladders. By material and design, they have a little bit of stretch to them.
For that reason, I personally stay away from using them on treestands. I'm sure they'd work, but there is better attachment systems for stands IMO.

I know some guys use the UCR's on thier new Lone Wolf stands that have 2 attachment buttons. I use them on my LW sticks.
