What the whiz...

Ok, I have heard this too many times know and I am starting to wonder. Does human urine have an adverse affect on deer? I have heard numerous times now that you can take a wiz on the ground and it will not hurt a thing, in fact it may bring a deer in. Come on! Is this for real? I have heard this from avid scent control people including my father-in-law who goes the extra mile to control his scent. What gives?

I've talked to quite a few guys who have forgotten more about deer hunting than I will ever learn and they have deliberately taken a whiz in locations and watched how the deer react. They tell me they have never seen deer scared off by the odor of human urine alone.

Pee is pee and i don't think a deer can tell the diference between what kind of pee is on the ground. Case in point, a few years ago I would pee in the same place every morning and afternoon before hitting my stand, one day a scrape appeared in my pee hole. That night when I came out of the timber there was a good buck working my "outhouse". This last year I tried another experiment but this time in a buck scrape that hadn't had any action for some time, a few days later that scrape was active again and a few weeks later I killed a buck 30 yards from the scrape i peed in every time I walked past it.

True stories.

May I ask what you drink during the hunting season? Ha!

I from Missouri....."SHOW ME!" A couple of years ago I watched Headgear work his tail off hanging a stand and no sooner than he got it hung his Daddy-in Law was leaving him a couple of quarts of his own "special blend." It was good laugh anyway. It is hard to think that it is even remotely possible that urine does not have very distinct odors that identify a species. Think about it. Deer use it to identify each other, from a doe in estrus to a dominant or subordinate buck. I'm not saying it's not possible but why does sweat cause you problems and pee doesn't? There was an article in Outdoor Life last year on this same topic and they claim that there was no change in scrape activity regardless of the urine they put in it. They used buck ,doe, and human urine. As much as I like to try new things, this is one that I think I'll take a "Wait and Pee" approach with!

Ok, I know it may be lack of sleep talking here, but lets conduct our own "scientific" experiment. Two or three of us can set up trail cams on a scrape that we have human urine in and see what happens. I'm serious! I would love to find that deer are not alarmed by human urine. It would make my time in the woods alot more enjoyable if I could relieve myself without worry. Who's in?

SINCERELY JOHN HOLMES JONIOR

SEE YA IN THE MOVIES M350 OUT

I get stage fright, so I guess it's up to you Rackaddict! By the way I did work my butt off getting that stand in and I didn't see a thing on that hunt. The next morning in the stand I saw two does but couldn't get them any closer than rifle range to my stand. That was enough for me so I pulled it. Don't know if it had anything to do with the urine or not but my confedence was shot.

I know it sounds far fetched but even when I was in high school I would pee on my trapline and come back and see fox or coyote pee in the snow near where I went. That's when I started setting snares in my own trail in the snow, it worked also. If I had a trail camera I would do the pee-n-picture thing to show that I'm not totally nutz.

Hey Muddy!
After the cow call, trapping on your own trail and killing bucks in your own outhouse. There's no question your a LITTLE nuts!!

So you can hunt with me anytime. Even if there wasn't a deer in the county (or your outhouse)it would be down right entertaining.

Somebody make this guy a trailcam! I can only imagine what he'll come up with.

Everyone thought Einstien was crazy too.
