What to plant??

I have an old oxbow that surrounds a thicket on 3 sides so I know exactly where the deer will come from...there is an old logging road through the timber that leads out to the corn/bean fields...I get big bucks on camera at night all the time...my plan is to plant the old road into a food plot to draw the bucks out before dark to stage in the timber and munch on some food. The road is covered by the tree canopy 95% of the day...just wondering if anyone had good tips on something that will thrive w/o a lot of sun...I know rye will grow anywhere...I was considering ground hog forage radish on half and clover/rye on the other half. Offer any and all thoughts!

Thanks for reading and thanks for the help!

I have a similar situation, rye grain was the only thing I could get to grow. I tried clover and misc brassicas, not enough sunlight.

I've never tried the buck-on-a-bag (throw & gro, hidey hole, shot plot, etc.) stuff though. Good luck.

Food plots? You got enough moisture over there for food plots? The way this weather pattern is set up,,unless you are one of the lucky,,I say drought far into fall. I bought a tiller this spring with plans for plots but, last year I hardly could get winter wheat to germinate, by Nov. It finally did,,but took two months. This drought is making last yrs look wet! Maybe just my area,,but this pattern is strong,,and big. ok make plans though,,good luck.
