Shed Head!!!
A friend of mine found a 80" shed 6 years ago. It had a lot of junk on it and he looked the rest of that spring for the other side and never found it.
The next bow season he had a close encounter with the buck that dropped that shed. The buck had put on about 80" and was a true MONSTER Kansas non-typical!!!! He was in his tree stand and the buck was only 15 yards away. When the buck stepped into the shooting lane he let the arrow fly!!! The arrow flew over the bucks back and the buck ran off never to be seen again that season!!!
That spring he was out shedding looking for the sheds off of that Monster non-typical. He was fortunate enought to find 1 side and looked the rest of the year for the other side and never found it.
The following october he was perched in one of his stands on that same property and noticed what looked like a tine sticking out of the mud on a creek bank. He got down out of his stand and went to the creek and sure enough, it was a tine. He started digging and slowly but surely dug out the other side to that monster non-typical. It had been there for a year and had some minor tree rat damage. None of the tines were chewed completely off, only a couple had chew marks. He had the damaged side repaired and then had the set mounted in a sneak mount.
As far as we know, this magnificant buck was never harvested and is more than likely now dead. It ended up scoring 256"..... It has 8" bases... A true giant!!!!
This, is what all of us shed hunters dream of finding!!!!
