Woke up to this crap outside of my dorm this morning in Storm Lake. IT WAS 82 HERE ON WEDNESDAY?!?

I don't know how bad it is back in Des Moines or down by our farm in Decatur County but I'm planning on making the 2 1/2 hour trip home (more like 3 1/2 today) to hunt the rut this weekend. Do you think this will effect the rut really? If yes, then how so in your mind?

Here's two pictures....

It's been warm as hell down here, this cold front will only do one thing, make it awesome!

No snow here though... yet.

I have to totally agree with Muddy! The extreme shift in the weather is gonna throw the big boys into a frenzy. I personally, am out the door as soon as my daughter gets home to watch the lil' one.

I just called Timber Pig to tell him the hail was coming. He was still in the tree! There's a die hard hunter!! He got out just in time.

I was up this morning, but that wind was just too brutal for me, gusts near 40 mph. I don't trust the little tree I sit in, to not snap right where my tree stand sits in 40 mph winds...

Ok, so that hunt sucked! I dont mind the 30mph wind so much, the rain aint so bad, but thunder and hail was a little much. It debatable whether thats diehard or just retarded.

Tommorow sounds sweet though, and I'd sure take some of that snow on the ground in the morning. If the bucks dont run tommorow they just arent going to.

Thank god its friday and I get to live in a tree the next two days!!

The wind is supposed to be 20-30 from the N. today, a little rain or snow in my area. I am planning on going out this afternoon. Will they still move with the wind that strong??

I wish like crazy I had some of that white stuff on the ground up here. It just missed where I live. 60 miles SE there is 9 inches on the ground and we've got nothing!

We were suppose to get no more than an inch....I wake up look out and holy crap.....the g/f was over in short shorts and flip flops so i had to carry her across the street since she couldn't get over the drifts from the plows
smirk.gif
I cant wait for this weekend! The g/f also asked "Do you still want to go home this weekend?"

My response "Heck yes! I'm planning on sitting 15 feet up all weekend!"

....she just shook her head and smiled and replied "i guess this is what i've gotten myself into"

I think that tomorrow will be amazing if the wind stops nothing better than the first snow of the year to make deer move plus the rut going on im think im going to site in my stand until sunday night

The bucks should be going insane. This snow & temps in the teens will make the activity increase for sure.

I hunted in the middle of the storm and I was covered up with deer and turkey. Filled my doe tag at 7 am . Wish I had a turkey tag . About 40 milling around 3 days in a row. Got photos but still cant figure out how to post them.
