What Would You Plant?

Want to plant some screen cover along the road of my farm. I only have room for one row of whatever I plant, ~8ft. I dont want to sacrifice any of the tillable for planting multiple rows. Would you plant cedars or shrubs? I think the shrubs would be better for the pheasants (actually a few around still) but the cedars would probably provide better screening in the winter. If you vote for shrubs, which kind? I personally think I like the Silky Dogwood. Not sure if I am patient enough to wait for the cedars. Thoughts?

Cedars, in good soil they will grow pretty fast. I planted some seedlings from the state nursery about 5 years ago in good black soil, and now most are getting close to 8 feet tall. Same area has 3 year old hybrid poplar at about 15 feet.
