What's the temperature in late October?

Hello everyone. Being from Michigan, I am a little uncertain about what kind of weather I will be hunting in this fall. I will be hunting in Southeastern Iowa. Is it going to be in the 40's and 50's? Do you ever get snow in late October? I will be out there on the last week of October. 24th to the 30th.
I appreciate any kind of help.

You are asking Iowan's about the weather. It is hard to say this early. Could be as warm or as cold as you mentioned. I recommend re-posting your question a week before you come and we can give you a better idea. In late Oct. the weather is USUALLY warmer than most deer hunters prefer.

Late October??? Well let's see, the temp. will probably be in the 30-75 range, with the chance of light showers, thunderstorms, or the occasional snowstorm.

Not to sound like a smarta$$ here, but it's pretty hard to predict that time of year. Some years its cold, others its hot, and some years are just right. I'd say pack for a little of everything.

Yes, I agree with the others. Ask about three days before you leave.

I have hunted in snow and 90 degrees in October.

The weather is predictably unpredictable as the others said. if you are going to be here more than a week, pack for all weather, rain/snow, cold, cool, warm, and hot.

One day rain, next day blizzard, next day 75 and sunny. October (as everyone else had mentioned) can be a roller coaster. I have hunted in the mornings when it was below freezing, and in the same afternoon it was 70* Crazy IA weather.

Log on to accuweather's website and type in the zipcode nearest your hunting area or the towns name. You will get the latest weeks forecast... pick any day and click on 'details'. In the bottom left hand screen near the bottom you should be able to click on weather averages.... you can choose any month from the previous year. It will give you exact daily highs and low temps as well as the 'norms' or averages for each day of the month.... I hope this description is not too confusing....

Whackmaster,
I grabbed some quick data from the weather almanac for the last five years for you. Hope this helps. By the way this data is from just north of where you will be in SE IA and by that I mean with in 60 miles

Now that you have the range of possible weather hope for the colder end of the spectrum. That usually results in much better daylight buck movement.

What would we do without Limb, I think he needs a promotion for this type of above and beyond the call of duty work.

Thanks Limb!! That is a great graph you put together. Especially since it was for a guy from the Wolverine state!!! Hawkeyes going to be worth a squat this year?!! Can't wait for those cool Autumn weekends, where you do some quick chores, get in and watch the first half of the football game, then head out to the woods. That's heaven buddy. Thanks again.

No problem on the graph.

I have no problems at all with Wolverine fans, some of the best fans I have met.

Hawks should be pretty good this year with a big question mark at QB. Defense will be very strong. Sept 25 in the Big House will be interesting to say the least. The Hawks have never won three in a row in the history of the series. You guys should be stacked this year for another good season with Edwards, Jackson, Shazor and Woods. Good Luck!
