My hunting partner is in the market for a new crossbow. He has a bad shoulder and he has a Doctors signed statement that he is unable to pull a bow due to an injury.

He wants to purchase a quality crossbow and is asking for your input as to what you think he should purchase, and why.

He is also open to a quality used crossbow if you know of one.

I would have to give the "Ten Point" brand a thumbs up. They have a fantastic trigger that breaks like a piece of glass and are very accurate. I think they are one of the more pricey units, but you get what you pay for...

My dad has shot a crossbow for years now due to an elbow injury, and he has always shot Horton. They are awesome crossbows, but they are pretty pricey as well.

I bought a Ten Point Lazer HP. I decided on this one over the Ten Point Pro Fusion becasue of the secondary safety on the forestock. Means you can sit in the stand with the main safety off and still be safe and not make that "Tink" clicking off the main safety. I also chose this one becasue ot the aluminum rail as opposed to the composit rail.

Customer service has been good. I have some issues that are self induced that I can live with till after the season so we'll see how good it is. I have also heard customer service at Barnett is good. I shot an older Barnett and the trigger was very stiff and had quite a kick.

The Ten Points have (for more money) a thing called Accu-draw. It is a cocker that you pull out and hook to the string and use a crank to wind the cord back in and cock the bow. Works slick once you get on to it but if he needs a follow up, forget it.

The thing will shoot better than I can hold it, even on a rest.

Check out the article in NAW this month. The authour outlines a few of the crossbows out there.

All and all I'd rather be shooting my compound bow. Maybe next year.
