Which Decoy?

Been doing some cleaning out the shed pile trying to free up some cash for next season. I'm definately going to get a decoy, have it narrowed down to the bobblehead and the boss buck, leaning towards boss b/c of it's body size, thinking I could toss the 120 set for some 150+ sheds or cutoffs. Anyone have any experiece with either...if so would love to hear some pros and cons of both.

I've got a carrylite this year and it worked awesome! Got the crap beat out of it the day after I bought it. Since then have had numerous encounters with young and older bucks. It's a little smaller than the Boss so maybe it doesn't intimidate the little ones as much. I think they are all a pain in the butt to carry out even with the bag! Good luck in your search!

i have used the carry lite for years with lots of positive results....

but up there on the tundra where the deer are stupid big, i might go with the boss bucks

I bought a Boss buck this year........put them side by side at the sporting goods store and see which one looks the best.......I'd be willing to bet you'll pick the Boss. Neither one is easy to get out to your hunting spot, it's just something you'll have to deal with. I had heard some stories about the Boss's legs not fitting properly into it's slots, but I didn't have any problems this year. Talk about a whole nother relm of hunting.....you're going to have a blast with it!!

Have used the carrylite, flambeau, and now the flambeau boss buck and have had the best reactions to the boss buck. I would love to put two of the buckwing bobbin heads together to simulate a fight but haven't done it yet. I LOVE to use a decoy! They are a PIA but in my opinion worth it.

i like the way my bobn head looks, but it makes noise against the side when its really windy. it really made young bucks curious but i didnt have any luck seeing any big bucks when it was out.

We used the Boss and Carrylite this year, I liked both extremely well. The pros about the Boss are the size and amazing realism! Cons that I can pick out are the size makes it a little tough to tote in and out of the woods, it doesn't have movable ears (We like to put the ears on the Carrylite so they look like they are pinned back in a dominant posture), and it is a major pain staking the legs into the ground........any suggestions from you other Boss buck users for staking the legs into the ground?

I noticed this too! I put felt around the edge of mine(very small) and it eliminated the rubbing sound!!

I love my bobble head. But it is very noisey to carry out and set up! I hadn't used decoys much before this year, so maybe they are all this way. But I felt like I could have been quieter having a marching band play while I set up to hunt then I was putting my BH together!

I bought a Bobble Head this year. Looks pretty decent. I could see how it could be a little tippy if you were in a hurry to get it setup.

Mine was extremely loud the first time I used it in the wind. The next day I talked to a "Professional" he said wrap the counter weights in felt. Then after also discussing with him the pain in the arse of carrying this thing put together he said if you have enough felt. To cover the tops of both sets of legs and the counter weights. He said you can put them together silently. In the woods. Im going to take mine and put to small eyehooks in the top of the body. Inside of the cavity. Then use a piece of rope as a sling to carry it.

I also have the bobble head buck. My only complaint was the noise also. but now after reading this I know what to do. Other than that I am really happy with it.
