Whisker Biscuit

I have recently purchased a new bow and have had it setup for about 2 months. I put a Whisker Biscuit Droptine QS rest on it and absolutely love it. However, upon shooting about 10 times, maybe 50-100 arrows a time I noticed that the biscuit was riping my fletches off, and ended up with 4 different arrows having damaged fletchings. I have been loading them the right way into the biscuit with none of the arrows passing through the bottom, tougher quils. I was just wondeirng if anyone else has experienced this problem and what they might have done to fix it. I would appreciate any advice.

I would guess that if the vanes are getting ripped off completely, then maybe they weren't adhered to the shaft all that well. I used to shoot a WB, and over time the vanes will eventually start to ripple from passing through so many times. That's the only downside to shooting a WB. If you shoot a-lot during the spring and summer months, consider using a drop away like the Trophy Taker, Drop-Zone, or a NAP. If you don't mind replacing the vanes over time, try using a good glue like AAE Fastset Gel and make sure the shafts are clean before you adhere them. Try placing a dab of glue at the point end of the vane where it first goes through the WB, it'll help keep them from tearing off. Hope that helps.

Are you shooting vanes or feathers? I am assuming you are shooting vanes in which case dab a little glue at the head of each vane. Also, using a high quality vane with good memory such as dura vane or easton diamonds will also help...

Thanks guys, I will try these suggestions. I am shooting vanes now but was thinking of swithcing to feathers based on some advice from a few others who shoot biscuits.

I shoot vanes with a Biscuit and haven't had any problems after reflecthing my arrows with new vanes and putting a dab of adhesive where the leading edge of the vane meets the arrow saft. Give that a try. It's worked for me.

the only problem I had with my biscuit was after awhile it would (warp)? my vanes. I loved the biscuit but just put on a trophy ridge drop away to try something new.

I use Bohning blazer vanes with my wisker biscuit as does a coworker of mine. I haven't had any problems with mine. My coworker had a problem with them falling off after awhile. The only difference between us was that I used an arrow wrap and he glued straight onto the shaft. He now scrubs his shafts with something like comet and washes it before he fletches and hasn't had any further problems with fletching comming off. We both put a bead of glue on both ends of the fletch too.
