Today I was driving down a country road when this turkey walked out of the woods. I pulled over and snapped a few pics. Kind of neat looking.

I had a white hen like that around my place for years....about 10 years ago. Was neat, not only because of her unusual color but also b/c she was so easy to identify. Was amazing how far she traveled. She was boss hen for a number of years and her range was easily several miles.

Neat picture of the white hen!

Speaking of identifying traveling turkeys...several years ago I had a long bearded hen on one of the properties that I was hunting and I think I saw that same hen about 10 times over a 2 or 3 year period. One morning I had her almost in my blind with me shortly after flydown and then 3-5 hours later I almost hit her on the gravel road as I left the farm after hunting.

The distance between those two points would be close to a mile and that was only in a few hours. I can easily believe that a given turk would range over several miles. I wonder just what an average range would be for a given year...
