Who plans on thinning the doe population.

How many of you are going to help thin out the doe population. That is something that really needs to be done. Pass on a small buck and take a big old doe. I hope to fill as many doe tags as i can. Also hope to fill me buck tag with a monster.

I've got two spoken for already from some co-workers, and one for myself. Shouldn't be a problem filling them in my area especially in early Oct..

Count me in. Went 100% on the does last year. That of course will not be my intention this year, but we'll see what happens. I don't think taking any deer in Iowa will really hurt things much, but mature does are a fit challenge and I never ate one I didn't like.

Count me in.Dad always said you cant eat the horns.That never seemed to stop him from shooting the big boys though.
I always have at least one doe tag or more on me when bow hunting depending on what i want to do during the muzzle loader seasons.

No problems here shooting a doe. Usually can get them closer to the truck too. Not sure how many doe tags I will get this year. Depends on what my work schedule is looking like by then.

I think shooting a mature doe is more difficult than shooting a mature buck during the rut. Does are alert, bucks are not.

I pass on smaller bucks and take a doe if I can't get a decent buck. Hunting a small area, I wish all the neighbors followed suit.
 
The deer are such a problem in Maryland that many areas are unlimited does, and we do not even need bonus stamps just bonus stamps for the bucks. Our DNR has done a great job recenty with trying to get the buck to doe ratio a little closer. At the same time they caused this problem with all thoses years of buck only.

Let's me count quick
Bought bow tag=1 buck (hopefully)
2 counties archery tag=2 does
Landowners tag=1 doe.
2 counties shotgun tags=2 does
Late season muzzleloader=1 buck
We have acquired 22 deprivation tags for the shotgun ground we hunt on

=22 does so if anyone is interested in meat give me a call.
Let's see that makes 27 does and 2 bucks sounds like a heck of a season I hope it pans out like that. I'm hope the boys in the shotgun group help out on the deprivation tags or I will have a sore shoulder and the end of the shotgun season.

shoulder to help you out. I don't think anyone will feel sorry for your sore shoulder. Good luck on the bucks.
 
Does are all I've shot the last two years. I plan on taking a couple more this year hopefully.
 
i'm in! going to bow hunt for the first time this year. add that to my shotgun and muzzleloader tags
