I deleted the last thread because I figured I'd wait until I had stuff set in stone. If anyone is interested in going on an ANY elk hunt any time between Nov. 1 - Nov. 14 in a unit with great success in Wyoming let me know.

It's a bad time for most people that want to hunt here in Iowa and it would be a very physical hunt but I lived right up there for 4 months and know where a lot of elk like to hang out and success is very high. I'll be doing some scouting in late July and will post some pictures.

Leftover tags go on sale July 6th and I'm not sure how fast they'll sell out but I'm buying mine right away (full price). The full price tag is $577 and a $12.50 conservation tag.

Will it be a pack in trip?

Rifle, or bow?

What are your guide fees? LOL

Any weapon but it costs $30 for an archery permit and you have to have bow hunters safety. I'll be using a rifle this go around. It'll be a pack in trip about three miles into BLM and then the elk are three miles further in. No guide fees LOL I'll help pack out your elk if you help me pack out mine.

what part of Wyoming? I may be very interested in this- but I wouldnt be able to for an entire week- would be a 4 day trip for me - if that would be attainable - PM me and ill get more info from you

I'll get back with ya ASAP. Have to check on a few things and get the okay form the "warden".

Also, I looked on the WY dnr site between my last post and this one, and saw this.

Q. Is a bowhunter education or hunter safety course required to archery hunt?

A. No. There is an archery section in Wyoming’s hunter safety course, but completion of a bowhunter education course or hunter safety course is not required to archery hunt in Wyoming.

I was fortunate enough to get a bull in Wyoming with my bow in 2012 on my first ever trip out west. I've got mule deer points building there as well. I'm not interested in the elk hunt but I'd love to go out and shed hunt sometime. You interested in sharing your area for that?
