Recently in a post on this site I advocated the wearing of a kerchief about the neck during cold weather to assist in retaining body heat. As 90% of body heat loss occurs through the cartoid arteries and blood vessels in the scalp. Kerchiefs now come in the various camo patterns that we hunters all love.
The following is a list of other great reasons to carry a kerchief when hunting:
You can wipe the tobacco juice off your lips.
Forgot your face mask? Cut out eye holes in the kerchief.
Blow your runny nose with it; using a kerchief is more sociably acceptable than the thumb to the side of the nose and blow method.
Apply your deer scent or attractant to kerchief and drape over a limb
You can wave it at a buck and try to draw his curiosity, maybe get a shot, he will not see it as it is a 3d camo pattern.
Use it to muffle your sobbing and cursing after missing the Buck of a life time.
Tear it into thin strips and tie to brush to mark the blood trail, you will not see it (camo).
Clean your hands and hunting knife after field dressing your deer. Don’t lay it in the leaves, you will not see it.
It could be used in case of emergency as a tourniquet or a bandage unless you laid it down in the leaves, you will not see it.
Wipe the sweat from your brow after a long drag back to the truck. This idea will not work if you tore kerchief into thin strips to mark the blood trail.
Did you forget bring along the toilet paper? *****Caution***** DO NOT PLACE SOILED KERCHIEF AROUND NECK AFTER WIPEING!!!!!!!THE WIFE WILL NOT HAVE TO SEE IT.
