Got permission from a family member to put in a foodplot on his property.
Started working on it 2 weeks ago.
Went to check a cam this morning and on the way back to my truck, a medium sized bear popped out and started following me.
Now, I've been hunting bear for over 40 years and have killed about 60 of them and knew right off something wast right. It followed me step for step as I was walking backwards towards my truck at about 25'. Did not show any aggressive postures but was unnerving seeing it watching/ following/ stalking me.

All I had with me was a Stanley 25' tape measure. Enough was enough.
I stopped, waved my arms, yelled and even took a step towards it. It kept coming.

At about 20', I beaned him/ her (don't know) square between the eyes with the TM.

It turned and ran back into the riverbottom.

Been within close range of 100s of bear but this one shook me up abit!
Checked my camera card later and it was drinking out of the pond where I had the cam set each of the last 4 days.

Was very unusual behavior but will go in armed from hear on out.

I’ve seen maybe 10 bears in my life. You have shot 60!!!! Holy cow!! Think the bear was just curious? Ya, I’d be packing some heat. I still bet it’s safer to spend time around mother & cubs than be in the ghettos of our most liberal cities after dark ;)

My son & I were heading up to bow hunt in NW Minnesota along a nice river bottom. We discussed buying an OTC bear tag in that zone since we had seen a few bear in camera & it’s no quota!

Decided not to buy the tags .

That evening a really nice bear went right under his stand and gave him multiple shot opportunities! He got a couple of photos of the bear walked down the river !

Cool experience, but I still wish we’d bought those tags !

Skip, not sure what its intent was? Guessing just curious but typically, farm county bears aren't real curious about people.
HardWoods, the no quota zone is where I have h7nted every year since 1991.
Also used to hunt yearly in Ontario, Manitoba and Saskatchewan.
Bear is my favorite game meat.
If it sticks around, I'll try and find a woman or kid that would like to try and get it come September.

This was on the river by Lake Bronson . I can’t even remember the name of the river , but it was good hunting !

We saw big bucks, bear, wolves & an occasional elk in that area.
