Wild Otter picture

I was out shed hunting early this morning when I walked up on this guy eating a fish. I tried to sneek my camera out of my pocket but it spooked him. It took 30 minutes to catch a pic of him because he was playing peek-a-boo popping his head out of different holes in the ice. I've never seen an otter in the wild before it was one of the coolest thing I've ever seen.

Nice pic!! What river was he on? They are not as rare as one would think but they are dang hard to spot.

i found a den last year shed hunting. i saw the otter but couldn't get a pic the 3 or 4 times i saw it. this year i'm gonna bring a good camera with a little bigger lense and sit back a ways......

pretty sure when I was looking around our timber a couple weeks ago that I ran across an otter track. snow was deep enough that its belly dug a rut. maybe I will get to see one sometime.

cool pic. i have seen numerous "belly slide" tracks on the winnebago and wapsipinicon river when out on water sampling runs. never fortunate enough to see one though...yet!!

I was fishing at a dam here about three years ago when I seen a funny looking beaver swimming around a little ways down from me.Pretty soon he was right in front of me and it was an otter.The thing is this dams quite a ways from the river, he musta followed the creek up to get where he was.And at that time I didnt even know theyd released otters up here so I was a little hesitant to tell anyone what id seen
