Wild parsnip

Interesting...I think this explains a few random blisters that I had on my arms/hands after a weed whacking job a couple of weeks ago. I did not realize that this plant was the source.

Now that I know, I think I will do a little spot spraying with gly to reduce this plant down some. Thanks for posting.

NASTY stuff! I got a burn on my arm a couple weeks ago just driving through a patch in the Gator. A few years back my wife was (unknowingly) cleaning a bunch of wild parsnip out of her wild flower patch in our road ditch wearing a short sleeve top and shorts on a sunny day. She was one humongous blister & looked like she had been attacked by a propane torch. Took weeks to heal up! She's since very cognizant of what it looks like & what it can do.

I'm an intern with the Iowa Natural Heritage Foundation this summer and we have hand pulled a good amount of this stuff. Long sleeves, pants, and gloves are a must. A couple of my fellow interns have gotten some blisters and it doesn't look pleasant. I can't drive anywhere now without seeing parsnip and sweet clover.

My arms are covered with blisters from it, weed whacked bridge guard rails at work last week
