Just returned home from a 10 day Ontario hunt. Had a great time. Beautiful country, perfect weather, and alot of deer. Passed up more bucks in 10 days then I have in the last five years combined. First day I passed a 145 class 4x4, 12:30 pm and at 8 yards! Just couldn't pull the trigger that soon. About the 7th morning I had a monster at 50 yards. I'd just gotten to my popup blind and stepped inside, opened the fron window and there he stood. Problem was that the warm air inside the blind had fogged up my scope. I wiped it off and could see the deer but no cross-hairs. Probably could have guessed where they were and still killed the deer, but I'm not "guessing" type of hunter. Estimated this deer in the 170 6x6 range. Figured he'd come back as he wasn't spooked. Ended up passing 6 deer between 140 and 145. Finally on the last day I lowered the boom on this deer. About 142 9 point. Trail cam pic of him from the night before he took a ride in the pickup. Pretty exciting hunt. I really enjoyed the solitude and the whispering of the wind thru the spruce. Can't wait for next year.
