Will Smoke Odor Spook Deer

Bow hunted for the first time last year. Have a shed we stay in that is unheated. Used ice house heaters and nearly froze in early November when it got cold. I am going to insulate it this year and put a heater in. If I put a wood burner in, will the wood smoke smell that stays on my skin spook deer? There are a couple of houses in the area that all have wood burnes in them so this would not be a new smell to the deer.

Thanks in advance.

Welcome Littlefeather, I wish there was more info on this subject. I'm under the assumption that deer will smell your body odor before they smell the cabin smoke. How that is, I can't explain but wish I could get ahold of some research to help justify my theory. Regardless of what I think most everyone on this site will advise you to buy a bittle of "The Ghost" and you will not have to worry much about odor again.

No offense intended, but before worrying about whether the deer smell you or not, BE SURE you are not creating a dangerous situation for yourself where you could be aphyxiated in your sleep. At a minimum, consult with a knowledgeable heating system person before proceeding.

Again, no offense intended, I just didn't want the "do-it-yourself" mentality to kick in too hard here for your sake.

just make sure you put a 3 inch hole at floor level and use triple wall pipe going through the cieling. DO NOT go out the side wall unless you go into a cement chimney. trust me it is what i do for a living

I've got the safety concerns addressed. One person that hunts in our group owns a heating/cooling company and installs stuff like this for a living. My options right now are buying a heater for an RV with a CO shutoff or a wood stove. I feel better about the RV heater but it is considerble more epensive. Just wondering if anybody stays in a cabin with a wood stove in it while they hunt.

yes and we have deer within thirty yards of our cabin all of the time doesnt seem to bother them, but my buddy had a small woodstove at his blind and and saw way less deer than me. hope that helped
