Hi guys,
Just curious when your (Iowa) bow season and stuff ends. Jan 31st was the final day of bow for us up here in MN. Oh boy, I'm already having withdrawel symptoms

Bow and late muzzleloader end Jan 10 this year. Then we have a bonus antlerless season for a few days. It is a bad idea instituted for political reasons. We loose a lot of button bucks and shed antler bucks. Hopefully someday we will wise up and offer those tags to hunters during their choice of season. I'm sure bowhunters for example would do a much better job of selecting the deer that really need to be removed from the population.

Good hunting!

AMEN........when are they going to realize that the bonus doe season is a JOKE. that was pasted by a non-hunter!

Ya, that really doen't seem very smart. Even on December 30 (the second to last day of my bow season in MN) I was at full draw on what I thought was a large doe until I noticed its knocked knees and tufted hair near the ears. It sure looked like a buck and acted like one. So I let down my bow. Iowa should think about running the bow season more like MN. It opens mid-September and closes the final day of the year. Every hunter gets one archery tag that can be used for either a buck or a doe in any part of the state and then additional managament tags are offered for like $10 a piece but these are limitied to the zone you buy the tag for. Obviously some zones offer more management tags than others due to higher populations of deer in those areas. I think this really keeps things simple but well regulated and ending the archery season on New Years Eve day really saves a lot of bald bucks from getting picked off.
