Youth Bow

Well rescuebill jr. is going to turn 8 on March 26th and was wondering if you guys had any advice for a youth bow.

We tried the Mathews Gensis and it seemed to work ok but I thought I would get some input from the board here. Anyone's kid use a Gensis or any other good bow?

Thanks, rescuebill

My boy turned eight last May and I bought him the Browning Micro Midas II kit. The draw lenght on this bow adjusts 10" and know bow press is needed. He loves it, everytime dad gets his bow out my son is right thier waiting. I would recommend a Jr release aid, we found that it helped tremendously. I am hoping he gets 2 or 3 years out of the bow and then I will look for something a little more serious. Good Luck and tell the little guy Happy Birthday from Iowawhitetail.

I am in the same boat.My boy turns 8 in July but he wants to go to 3-d shhots soooooo bad with me this year and my parents got him an old bear for x-mas but the draw is way to long still and you can't adjust it.How much are the Genesis???????

$150-$160. You sometimes can find some good used ones for around a hundred. Other choices besides the Browning....Hoyt Banshee, BowTech Lil' Rascal.

...I get to work with a lot of kids and have been able to use Genesis Bows quite a bit the last few years...I love'em

...I haven't found a kid (or adult) yet that wasn't able to shoot a Genesis...

I would recomend the Browning micro midas II also. My daughter got hers when she was 6 and a 1/2 years old. She's been shooting it for over a year now. When I got it I couldn't get it any lower then about 18 and a 1/2 lbs. I talked to Browning tech support and they were great. I sent the bow in and in 4 days they had it back. They had made new limbs and worked on it quite abit. They got it down to 16 and 1/2, not the 15 they advertise but close enough. Real nice people. My daughter has shot many 3-d's including the IBA shoot and the Iowa games. Each of these shoots have shots out at the 20 yd plus range. With this bow she is able to shoot from her stakes, instead of having to get closer. And it makes it alot more fun for her when she knows she can hit a target at 20 yds. I know there are others out there but I would say the micro midas is in the top 2 or 3.
I think bow tech has an awful hot kids bow. It shoots some pretty awsome speeds. But your gonna pay a pretty awsome price. As far as I have seen so far these two are probably the most serious kids bows out there.

Oh yeah make sure you go with carbon's. My daughter had been shooting 1516's out of her first bow. After the first three shots out of this bow we were down 3 arrows. They just folded up! And kids can be hard on arrows anyway. So far the Gold tip falcons have done well.
Hope this helps.

You might want to check out the PSE line too. They make the Spyder in 2 different models and has a large draw length and weight span. I have a friend that has both models for his 2 sons as with their age difference.
