I have planted a few in south central, grow very fast. Had a not bloom last spring not sure if the winter got to them. Plan on getting planting more this year!
I planted 25 in Spring 2015, some of them were out of the 5' tubes by this past fall. I was a little unsure about survival but they were cheap from MDC, so, why not? I'm in East Central Iowa, west of Muscatine. Maybe they will die off when they get larger?
