SW Iowa. Been on vacation since the 4th And have hunted every day. 0 sightings of shooters and movement has been slow. This morning I have seen 4 does, 4 bucks and a button buck. Biggest deer was 2.5 yr old. I go back to work Monday so I hope the action picks up real fast!
But you gain a lot from Miami of Ohio? ?
Iowa fans are so hypocritical when they say this stuff. The Hawks have a good team this year but let's not act like its the days of old. This rivalry is alive and well over the last 15-20 years.
We have always shot 250 grain Hornady SST-ML with 150 grains of powder. Been very effective and the wife's deer was shot double lung at 135 yards early muzzy. It poured blood immediately and died within 45 yards. At the end of the day I've found that I'm confident in the performance of that...
My family and friends love the field pod for muzzleloader and youth turkey hunting. My one problem I have had this year is that it squeaks in cold weather. I'm assuming I need to clean/lubricate it, but haven't had time to disassemble it to see if that fixes it. Overall we love it. My wife has...
Ensure you are using the correct climbing ropes. I've made these myself previously as well. The correct ropes and knots are in this link http://safetreehunt.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/05/SafeTree_Climber_System_Instructions.pdf
Couple things: 1. Why is there a jealousy of big crop operators? They treat farming as a business and have grown their operations. That's capitalism at its finest. Also as you'll see over the next few years, just because they're big doesn't mean there successful or good managers. There are risks...
Booner has got it all figured out. He met somebody that leases their ground out so he's an expert on leasing state wide. He met a farmer once so he knows the ins and out of their financial condition industry wide. Check your ego. You're a bright guy I'm sure, but the smartest guys don't have to...
Went on Saturday in Harrison County. Deep Farm pond (30' max depth) and we were sitting on 8" of ice. Edges are getting really iffy I'd say. Shallow pond will have less ice. Especially if exposed to wind and direct sunlight. We caught 4 crappie and a bunch of gills. Steady fishing but not...
If the price is reasonable, I will try these out. I now have the hunt comfort seat on my LW so paking sticks in on a hang and hunt would be a little tricky. The only solution would be to remove the seat pad probably which would allow the sticks to make a lot of noise.
Haven't read the rest of the thread but I shoot the TC Triumph Bone Collector with 150 grains of Triple 7 and 250 grain hornady sst. My wife shot a buck last year at 209 yards. Her third buck ever. I am too confident in the gun to switch/try anything different. Everybody has their preferences...
XOP website says that the founder of lone wolf and his son designed the stands. Evidently they sold lone wolf and waited for patent to run out and then found ways to improve the old lone wolf stands
We use decoys quite often. Set them facing your stand/blind about 30 yards out. This will allow an approaching deer room to approach the head of the decoy. Keep in mind wind direction and place the butt of the decoy upwind of the head as well. This time of year we like to try double decoy sets...
This. I would plant 3 rows of willows closest to the area and in the meantime plant EW or switch inside of the rows of willows until they grow sufficiently to do the job alone
