    Hunting in the rain

Interesting topic. I've always heard that wetness enhances smell for them (and dogs) but then again hear how it washes scent away. I'd imagine it would suppress it from moving very far but if the wind is whipping through still could go a ways. I can't say I ever hunted in a steady heavy all day...

    Rut Action/Movement Reports

From east central Iowa. Agree with pretty much everyone else is seeing. Only seeing bed/feed patterns on homebody mature bucks during first/last 45 min of daylight. Cams have slowed on scrapes. Seeing young bucks pushing does around and a lot of really young deer traveling solo. Weather is...

    How many trail cams?

I will have 8 cudde's and 4 moultrie soaker type cameras out in the next couple weeks on only 38 acres. I've often wondered if I'm oversaturating it but since I don't go in a card pull all the time I justify it (at least in my mind!). I think in the upcoming years I might just remove them...

    Human Scent

My "guess" was somewhere around the 200 yds range for field and maybe the timber would knock it down 50 or so but maybe I'm not giving them enough credit!

    Human Scent

This will be my first actual thread post. I started bow hunting later in life and have been at it for the past 9 years or so (and love it!!). Along the way I have gotten a lot of data from podcasts, magazines, forums, etc and always find it interesting to hear different points of view based on...

    Generator

I would be very interested to know how you go about doing running off solar when power goes out without use of batteries. I have solar panels and was told I needed batteries (which are WAY too expensive) if I was setup "on the grid" and wanted to use the power they were generating when...

    First fawn of the year

Jumped a doe yesterday mowing trails. When I came back through kicked her up again. I stopped looked closer and there was a fawn scrambling at her feet in the tall grass.I got out of there as the thing couldn’t even walk yet. Does that mean it just dropped? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Switchgrass

Great. Appreciate the input. Have been able to grow most everything else but this switchgrass has been kicking by butt!

    Switchgrass

Oh ok. Will the burn kill what's greened up then (I'm assuming is the foxtail)? I don't know what our ground temps are but feel like they are lower than average right now so is mid May too late?

    Switchgrass

Hey Guys- lots of awesome info in here so much appreciated! Have a question on foxtail control. I have a couple acre spot I'm trying to establish some CIR. I had prepped the site the previous fall (2020) as instructed frost seeded in March (2021) and sprayed with simazine/gly/24d in early...

    Heated vest recommendations

100% agree. I have had the Pnuma vest for 2 seasons and really like it. Use it similar to how Jkratz says but also have an extra battery for longer sits in extreme cold conditions. I'll even take it out on semi cold days run it on low under a sweatshirt to avoid wearing a bulky coat. I'd...
