What the seller paid for the property 5 years ago should have nothing to do with if you buy of not in my opinion, current market value is really what I care about. If the market crashed and the seller lost thousands would you feel like you should still give them what they paid? I doubt it.
Same with me, every farm around me that gets sold to hunters is actually making the hunting way worse. Seems really bad now as guys are paying so much for the land that they are doing dumb things like selling hunts to offset the mortgage, my advice would be to only buy something that you can...
Because goofy people wanna feel important and share it on social media so they can get attention. They could care less if it screws over someone else as long as people like their dumb post.
Same thing on my place in Monroe county in 2019, we would usually see 50-70 deer per night and that year we were lucky to see a deer every 3-4 nights. Literally killed 95% of them, fast forward to late season 2020 and it was back to 50-70 deer again. Last year we shot 40 and it seemed like we...
Multiple farms of different sizes, they always have a couple big deer that are over 5 years old, really struggle to get high scoring young deer past 3-4 years old. Hunting pressure has really hurt them, 10-15 years ago he would film bachelor groups and there would be multiple 180-200 inch bucks...
Sounds like the herd numbers are so low that guys that would kill more deer can’t find any, and guys with tracts that hold large numbers won’t give access to people who would. A friend of mine owns/hunts 5000 acres in southern Illinois, they have plenty of deer but still have an extremely hard...
People have been paying 5-6k an acre in west central Illinois for years, and the hunting isn’t half as good. I think you’re dreaming if you think a 40-50 percent drop is coming, that would put most rec farms back in the 2500-3000 range, haven’t seen those prices since 2015 in my area. Also as...
I’d be all for that, helps a revenue problem and would most likely decrease the amount of time to draw a tag. Selfishly I also believe it would bring some really good farms to the market and I’m looking for something to buy.
I’m a NRLO, and in my opinion it would be wrong to think the rules should change for me. I also enjoy every aspect of owning my farms and get to enjoy pretty much every outdoor activity on it except getting a buck tag every year. I hope this never changes, I bought farms in Iowa because of how...
Lee Lakosky has talked about not shooting does on his farms a bunch of times after they lost so many deer to ehd. There’s also been some podcasts lately with guys showing concern over shooting does because the does influence the genetics as much if not more than the bucks.
I bought a few last year, added them to my cell phone plan for 5 bucks a month with unlimited pics. Still gotta buy credits to use the app but its still the cheapest plan I could find and the picture quality is excellent.
There definitely not right all the time, I killed a buck this year that I knew was 6 years old because I had 5 years of trail cam pics of him and he came back as a 4 year old, similar thing with a buck my wife shot last year and a neighbors buck from this year.
Been around since the 60s and they still haven’t figured out anything. Government screws up pretty much everything it touches, I wouldn’t get a deer tested if they paid me too. Can’t take a deer across state lines but perfectly legal to take crops across even if they come from areas known to...
