So I took my daughter(6yr) out on her very first deer hunt with Dad. We got dropped off and only had to make about a 200yd jont up hill, not to bad. Kicked up about 15 turkeys when we reached the top, bonus!!! I wanted to go another 100yds to the next hill to have a better view, of what I wa...
Re: What late season food sources do they/I look f
With my late evening driving around, I have found them on any S facing hillsides, no matter what the crop. I'm pretty sure Thurs evening, I will be able to put my daughter in the blind with me and harvest a doe, a mature buck I will have to...
All the crops are out, no alfalfa. The area by Iowa standards isn't hammered during shotgun seasons either. I haven't been out in awhile, will all the persimmons be gone? I suppose this would almost match up to big timber hunting, with out the big timber?? Bean stubble or corn stalks...
Re: Need you help/opinion.
Sounds like a good plan to me!! I cut between the tendon and bone anyhow, that's typically where my doe tags go now. I process my own so I make that cut for hanging. I've always put them there, so my dumb luck doesn't come into play and the tag gets pulled off...
Okay so through my research, sitting at work not doing much today, you start the training instantly with the pup, that much is a given. Around 5-6 months is when you can and should start some field work. With the timeline, it seems now through March would be the best time. Apr - Jun will not...
Darn it, I was hoping for spring not to be the better option. Oh well I suppose that will give me more time to prepare and research. Just for those that don't know I'm in the agronomy area and will have to wait till late spring. Sorta like bow hunting, you get a new bow and have to wait 5...
Well, back in Nov, we signed the papers and we are now paying mortgage instead of rent. On the ride home, the wife said I could have my dog now.
Training wise I'm not sure though, should I wait till it's warmer and hence be easier to house break, but then it will be cold to do any field...
Half the time it is logging me out after posting. Sometimes PMA stuff doesn't show up. Yet half the time everything is on track. Do I need to update/delete cookies maybe??
out of me.
So I drop the young drop tine, in the harvest forum. I call my dad to bring the truck down as far as he could which was still 1 1/2 drag through the edge of timber and harvested bean field. I'm only getting 30-40 yds take a knee let the fire leave my legs. I get about 2/3's of the...

After a long uneventful Wed, this one came through about 4:30 Thurs. He was about ten minutes behind a 6pt basket. I really had my sights set on a bigger more mature buck, but this one is pretty close to my best...
I agree, messed up. I have been hunting river bottom, logged alot of hrs in a tree yesterday. I did have one buck hanging around a pair of does. He did chase a younger buck off when he got withing 60 yds of them. Not a thing yesterday evening, I even climbed out early to take a gander in to...
"PC Load Letter, WTF is that?" or "I tell you what I'd do with with a Million dollars..two chicks at the same time!" LOL. Office Space is a pretty good one.
Most have been posted, I think I'll wear 300 out.
I'm a horror movie fanatic add all the
Saw movies
Had two 120's - 130's chase a doe across the gravel in front of the firetruck with lights and sirens going at about 2:00. Both would have been hard to pass up, that estimate would be on the low side. Other than one had the entire left side busted off
Wow, I'm all about harvesting a mature buck, but I would have to play that one out in my head with how many guys I could round up to get that ole boy out of the timber.
Hmm lets see, wife works and I'm taking my daughter trick or treating. Saturday morn I have to give a class and the wife works in the evening. Chicago plays Detroit and I have dvr anyhow, so looks like the 2nd for me. Course I'm taking Thurs and Fri off and will have 4 days next weekend. If...
