I'm starting a side business for this same reason, I wanted to move a lot of trees to our property lines and for habitat like shelter belts for birds so I bought a 48" tree spade. I can move roughly an 8' red cedar and 6 trees at a time. I have access to a lot of Red Cedar in varying heights, 3...
The only issue I could see is if the farmer was no tilling next year, if they will be discing the field next spring cereal rye will only help the soil. I would lean towards cereal rye over brassicas when spreading into corn only because it can grow more once the corn is picked whereas brassicas...

I'm entirely fine with the rye reseeding, the only problem is all the weeds that have grown into the rye will most likely shade out any new growth. So my solution was to till it all under and plant something this fall
I cleared and planted this plot for the first time last summer, only planting rye around the outside and oats in the middle. I left the rye to get tall this spring/summer for cover and now it is dead and I need to do something with it for the fall. I planted soybeans early summer with some...
Are you going to try to trap it?
Not trying to hijack ya but I have seen a couple around our farm and I'd like to trap one of them but I've only ever trapped coyote. Any help?
Thanks a lot! I assume on the yellow and blue I'd need a North or NW wind and the orange a West, what about the red? I do get a lot of deer coming from the east, which is 50acre of crp, heading to the clover.
And yes the south fence row is a good spot to catch bucks cruising.
Your responses...
My scouting season has had alot of misfortune so far, with the exception of the two bucks I posted the other day, Im not seeing much in the normal areas on my main farm.
Below is a map of the farm and I would like to hear where some of you guys would hang a stand for early season, rut and...
Here are a couple of the only shooters I have found this year. I usually have several to look forward to seeing from the stand but I think the crop rotation this year has changed alot of things around me. I am going to attempt to use the moon phase alot more this year after reading about and...
After reading the post on "venison prep" I thought it would be interesting to see what everyones favorite recipe is for deer whether its simply steaks or loins, canned, or something else. I want to try some new recipes this year so lets hear some of em !
As for my family we canned a decent...
I have two plots all tilled and ready to plant, both are new this year and each is on a separate farm.
I need help with what to plant!
On farm "A" I have a 1 acre plot of solid Ladino Clover that was established last year, and the new plot is roughly 300 yards away and I have about 2 acres...
I have 2 Millenium M25 hang on's and absolutley love both of them. They are not adjustable but they are by far the most comfortable hang on I have. I think the M100 with the sling style back and seat would be an amazing hang on for all day sits, but i do not have one......YET !
As for your...
Great advice, the only things I did different was I planted all of my clover with rye in the fall last year and I had minimal weed issues this spring and the rye has been great fawn cover.
I have 4 acres available to plant a food plot in our crp contract. I already have 1 acre of clover established and I want to plant the remaining 3 acres in soybeans. I have soybeans available that were left overs from last year.I would like to plant them after all the neighboring ag fields have...
