    Muzzleloader loads

No .45 loads but Blackhorn 209 is the best thing to come along in blackpowder in years. Shot consistancy, cleanup, great groups. Not in pellet form but the advantages so far outweigh the slight inconvenience that you will never go back. I shoot my Encore w/ 110 grains Blackhorn and a 300 grain...

    150" 8??

Great story. Personally, I think hunting one specific deer is one of the most challenging and rewarding (and demoralizing) things a hunter can do. The rewards can be bitter-sweet but some of the best seasons I've had were spent doing this. Especially with trail cameras and the history you...

    Deer Poacher GUILTY

I have zero tolerance for poachers. That being said, I personally look at it differently if someone actually needs a deer to feed his family. However, I have never met a man that needs a 200 inch deer to feed his family. Killing a deer like this, illegally as proven in a court of law, is a...

    Deer Poacher GUILTY

I agree it should be more but even at only $5000, at least Iowa takes poaching seriously. In my home state, you would never see a fine like that. Even if it was a world record.

    List of Successful Draws?

Received another today from Iowa Whitetail Properties via email. I had given the Iowa DNR my email address. Do they release these, sell these or release successful draws?

    List of Successful Draws?

I just received a email from a outfitter in Iowa that knew that I drew a tag and what zone it was for. Is there a list of successful applicants or does the dnr release this info to outfitters?

    Funky rack.

I had a buck last year (2009) that was strikingly similar. Actually referred to him as caribou. Rack just reminded me of the shovel on a caribou. was hoping to see how he matured but no sightings since last yr. Still holding out hope though.

    Have to have in '08?

The backup bow is a absolute must. There is no way that I could be waiting on a part or trying to tune and site in a new or fixed bow during prime time. I even go as far as having extra sights ready so all I have to do is slap them on the bow if needed; already sighted in.

    Edge Feathering and bedding areas

Re: Edge Feathering This is a great thread; very informative. My project this winter is to wage war on sycamore trees in my hunting areas. Worthless tree for a wildlife manager, if you ask me. (Then again, I ain't that smart.) The area I hunt has been growing up in the last 25 years with the...

    Record Alberta Buck

Dandy buck, but pic is deceiving. He's got it pushed way out in front of him. Seems when people do that its because its not as big as they want us to believe. Just my $.02.

    Lone Wolf, Alpha or Assault

Preferences. Alpha has 14x12 seat, Assault has 8x12 seat. Is 8x12 comfortable. Assault is 10.5 lbs on web site but I see catalogs listing it as 8.5. Opinions please.

    Nephews first buck! WOW

Better find a stud when you hang that stud. I'd be interested to know how much that rack weighs.

    Bow Only Plot

If there is no chance of frost, my choice would be oats (heavy), with WW for some late season hunts. Plant about 2 weeks before you plan to hunt. JMO.
