Nice fish! I do a lot of bank pole fishing in SE Iowa. We had a really good year catching several blues and flats over that 50 lb. mark.

I would not recommend fishing 2 anchors in current. If your front anchor slips and your rear anchor locks you will be retrieving your boat off the bottom of the river. Get a 20 lb. anchor with breakaway chain so that you can pull it out backwards if it get hung up. I run a 20 lb. Cat River...

It is hard to go wrong with a TWC (Tangling with Catfish) Extreme rod paired with an Abu 6500 or 7000 series reel. Its all you need to handle blues or flats of any size.
