Having trouble killing grass in clover

Raptor is my go to product for nutsedge but needs to be sprayed before the sedge gets 3-4" tall. A mower my be the only option at this stage.

    What should I do??

If the 30 acres was in one block, I might consider putting something else in. One thought would be to break the plot into thirds and have a variety. Maybe RR beans in the spring and then break the plot into wheat and brassicas in the fall with a late bean plot. If you don't have the time or...

    Persimmons:

LoneRanger, I'm in zone 5 Northern Illinois. I also talked to Charlie Morse from Morse Nursery in Michigan and he grows Persimmons in Michigan, also zone 5. I've had good service from Morse Nursery also, mostly ungrafted apples, pears, and crabapples. Late frosts will hurt any fruit tree...

    Persimmons:

I used Higginstrees.com with good results. He has a special 20 trees with tubes for $100. Mine were growing out the tubes the 1st year. Expect 50:50 sex ratio. Tim

    Is it Prime-time?

I saw mature bucks chasing does the last week of Oct when it was still warm. As the temp has dropped so has the activity. Seen several immature bucks cruising but nothing following the does. I hope it picks back up since I passed on a couple shots during the heat and still have tags to fill.

    Shot Deer - "Need help"

Had a similar situation a couple of years ago. When the blood ran out the deer still went about 250-300 yards and died. My advice is if he was heading in a fairly straight direction then keep going he is laying close.

    Bedding Area Size?

SC On my property the deer like to bed on elevated locations. Even in my bottom ground they find the highest spot so they can see whats coming and have an escape route. They will also bed on the southeast side of the ridges so the ridge will block winter winds. This also has the wind at...

    Brassicas 2- 4 -D question

Ironwood, Everyone makes knuckle head mistakes. Mine this year was planting RR beans with my corn. I didn't check the bag on my corn prior to spraying with Roundup. My corn died about a week later. 2,4-D is a very good product. Most people don't know however that it does have a planting...

    Brassicas 2- 4 -D question

Ironwood, I just read your post and you may have found out the hard way not to spray 2,4-D and plant. For those that haven't read the lable you should wait at least a week after spraying 2,4-D before planting. Phenoxy's do have residual that will harm legumes and brassica if planted too close...

    SELECT and BUTYRAC 200

I've tankmixed the two a couple of times without problems. I've always sprayed early in the season before temps rose too much. I have noticed that clover will not get as tall after I sprayed butyrac. Weed control was excellent. I did use the recommended adjuvants. Tim

    How much clover?

Even with my high deer densities, my clover can stay ahead of the grazing. There is just too many things for them to eat. Even so there are deer and turkeys in my clover all the time. You may be surprised come Sept how fast they will graze the clover.

    Which clover?

I don't know how late is too late to get clover to catch but I have gotten clover to grow this late. If you are thinking of putting in a fall plot you may want to try beans again now and then put in wheat/clover this fall.

    Plot Project...ideas greatly appreciated.

If you have access to seasoned manure, I would spread it and then till. The manure will continue to decompose and will also halp break down the leaf matter. I would consider winter wheat in late summer with possibly rape or clover.

    Fertilizer prices

I have kept DAP, Urea, and AMS in sealed containers from year to year. Moisture is the enemy. The barrels were poly with lids that seal. Same with my 5 gallon buckets.

    Fertilizer prices

Unfortunately, DAP in my area is $1040/ton and potash is $860/ton. I was qoted $808/ton on Urea in bags. I took a gamble earlier (when Dap was $600 and potash was $400) and bought some of next year's needs. So far I look smart but its not next year yet.

    Corn Planter

I have broadcast RRCorn/RRBeans for the last couple of years and then just dragged with a harrow. Had good emergence. I set the harrow teeth at the highest notch and that worked well.

    Pre-emergent question.

That's interesting. I didn't think Squadron was being made anymore or that Pursuit is labled on Sorghum. I also thought Prowl needed to be applied post emerge to Sorghum but Preplant/preemerge to Soybeans. I quess I need to reread the product lables.

    Arrest?

I just looked @ the Arrest label and it doesn't recommend any additives. However Poast Plus does recommend crop oil. I believe Poast Plus has the same active ingredients.
