Bird Dog Parade to Kick Off Pheasant Fest

WHAT: Pheasants Forever - an organization with more than 20,000 supporters in Iowa and 125,000 members nationwide, kicks off its largest event, National Pheasant Fest 2010, in grand fashion with a "Bird Dog Parade." Sporting dogs will be the most popular attraction at the show, which runs Feb. 26-28 at the Iowa Events Center in Des Moines, Iowa.

WHO: Over 1,000 dog enthusiasts are expected in attendance as 35-40 different sporting dog breeds (70-80 dogs in total) and their owners open the show. The "Bird Dog Parade" will be led by Grand Marshal Bryan Karrick of NewsChannel 8 in Des Moines, and Chase, his black lab.

The following dog breeds have already been confirmed or are expected to participate: Boykin Spaniels, Brittanys, Deutsch Langhaars, English Pointers, Springer Spaniels, Field Spaniels, German Shorthairs, German Wirehaired Pointers, Munsterlanders, Small Munsterlanders, Labrador Retrievers, Llewellin Setters, Pointing Labs, Pudel Pointers, Spinone Italianos, Viszlas, Curly Coated Retrievers, German Longhair Pointers, Golden Retrievers, Irish Water Spaniels, English Setters, Red Setters, Weimaraners, Gordon Setters and more!

WHEN: Friday, February 26, 2010. Photo opportunities for dogs and owners available beginning at 12:15PM, Pheasant Fest ribbon cutting ceremony at 12:45PM, Bird Dog Parade at 1PM.
