Field Size via GPS

I recently wanted to use GPS images to measure some fields. There are tons of apps out there as well as websites. I wound up using this website as I avoid downloading apps: http://www.mapdevelopers.com/area_finder.php

Worked pretty slick.

I too have gotten real shy about loading apps on my phone as they all want you to agree to let them monitor your location, get your data, etc. So I also use conventional websites and not phone apps any more. I use http://www.acme.com/planimeter/ and have found that to be very useful and accurate.

NRCS Web Soil Survey is also a useful tool. Not sure how/if it would work on a phone but very useful on a computer.

HuntStand app has good measuring tool when you can't use a computer. Was surprised.

Agree on acme.com/planimeter when I need FAST on my phone. Surety on computer. The one I also use for a few other things, not measuring things and it is not an app....

High res up to do date aerials..... choose most current year (updated every year!!!).... Iowa geographic map server- HANDS DOWN!!! Resize to 1500x15000 for example, save as jpeg - it’s the ticket!

Hey- while I’m at it..... run 6 weather apps & websites..... throw all 6 out the window as worthless garbage that’s wrong more than they r right!!!!!

google earth, use the measurement icon. It is basically like acme site.

Download "and measure" on ur phones. It' s great app. You want to know to a couple yards on ur small fields it will do it, as well as a particular tree to another! Give it a shot!

That's a bookmark I visit frequently as well. Sometimes even use it in lieu of google earth just because the arial photos are so regularly updated and clear. Takes all the guess work out of food plot size, etc. as well.
