Lake Vermilion Trip

BDAHMS

Be here Now
Well my trip is half over and I can easily say this is an amazing place. Spring bay resort and the fishing here is top notch. We have caught our limit and threw back plenty of northern, walleye, perch and also caught plenty of smallmouth. And tonight when using my small bass pole I hooked into a 52.5" Muskie. Can't believe I landed it but definately a fish of a lifetime. Released her after measurements and I'll definately be getting a replica. 23" girth. Sill have tomorrow and Monday to fish. Will post picks Tuesday or Wednesday

Kudos to you on getting a replica. I fish musky regularly and many walleye/pan fish guys that hook into a trophy fish like that think they need to mount the fish. Replicas are way better and they allow us to put the fish back, healthy and give someone else a chance at that fish of a lifetime. Minnesota is doing it right with their statewide length limits. Congrats again, great fish!

Headed home- caught 20+ northern yesterday. I also had a follow on another huge Muskie. He just wouldn't hit it. All in all amazing trip- may need to
Catch up on my water consumption a bit but other than that- Couldn't ask for a better weekend. I'll post pics tomorrow once I get back to the office

this will be pic heavy- so I apologize in advance

I will get pics of the walleye later- those were on my buddies phone

This is about the average size of the Northern- anything over 24" we had to throw back - caught a ton just over 24"

By buddy had blown his Achilles about a month ago on my slowpitch team- so he had to stay seated most of the time fishing

it was going to rain on us pretty hard the last evening- so we skipped fishing and took the golf cart down the highway to the local watering hole (about 1/4 mile from the cabin)

I was fishing with a #3 and #5 pink and yellow double bladed Mepps- caught all the fish except walleye on this lure-

here is my Muskie

52.5" long 22.750" girth just under 35 LBS

AMAZING fight on my crappie/bass pole - got many pictures and released her back so someone else could catch her someday- she had a ton of old battle wounds

all in all a great trip!!!! and I am already booked for next year and my replica of the muskie is already ordered

A real man would have lipped that muskie.

On a story relative to your fridge pic my family used to go to the Hayward area. It was my job to stop at the Leinenkugels brewery to load up on fresh Leineis, this was long before they sold to Millers(?) and it was still good beer. I know I'm a lousy father because I'd pack beer all around my kids in their car seats. My parents would always give me a disapproving look when I rolled in with the Ramcharger packed like that but the first thing they'd say was "What? No cold ones?" The apple doesn't fall very far from the tree.

Haha that's awesome!

We went to leech lake for the last few years. But vermillion will be every Labor Day weekend for some time I imagine. And I imagine beer consumption doubles (at the very least) that weekend for the surrounding area
