Non Working Ear

I gotten odd pics this year. First was the hanging eye doe now this buck with a non working ear. I pulled the card November 2 after dark and had these fresh pictures of this buck. I thought he looked weird but didn’t really study them.
I pulled the card again tonight and seen why he looked different. His left ear just hangs in this position.
Trail cams definitely are fun to use.

Really cool serious of pictures. One winter shed hunting I noticed a group of 4 bucks up ahead, all still holding unfortunately, walking right to me. One of them had an ear just like this. It flopped a bit as he walked even.

I had one like this years ago. Couldn't ever kill him though. I do have one this year that I also had pics of last year. Anytime i see a deer with a cut in his ear i save it into a special "cut ears" folder so I can easily go back through and identify the deer the next year. Makes it easy to follow them from year to year.

Just saw this, I saw a young buck earlier this year with an ear hanging straight down. I've seen pics of others in the past, but this was the first time I've seen one in person.

Ansy, those notches look they were done with ear notchers that cattle guys use! I've identified a few bucks from rips or notches in the ear. Even identified one by a short tail.

Had a doe on cam with a limp ear last year. I always assumed it happened to bucks from fighting, but not sure how a doe would end up with one.

Sure makes bucks easier to identify! Those pics above from 3 years are awesome.
