I made the switch to Barnes expanders from sst s in hopes of better blood trails. I did some experimenting with Barnes 245 grain spitfires and 69 g of h4198.

    When zeroed at 150 yds, I am 2 1/2" high at 100 and 7 to 8" low at 200.

I'm curious what others have found to work using Barnes? I loved the accuracy of the ssts and have never lost a deer to one but the lack of blood trails was frustrating. I am hoping these bullets are the answer. So far I am satisfied with them.

I've had good luck with all Barnes bullets, including expanders. I think you will hear consistent positive fedfeedb on these. I have had good expansion, even with a reduced load for my kids.

The 290 grain spit-fire TMZ's with 10X powder shot well in my Savage when I had it. I think you will get a flatter shooting load with the TMZ.

Barns are awesome. When you gut the deer it'll look like a grenade went off inside the body cavity.

Is there a place in the DSM area that sells Barnes Expanders in 300 gr?

I did some breech plug maintenance and replace the vent liner, I also dropped it to 68 g. It seemed to flatten it out a little as I'm now about 5" low at 200.
I was curious what it would do to a five gallon bucket of water at 200 yards. Obviously a lot of energy is displaced inside the bucket.
