Spike bucks

This weekend I finally had an opportunity to get out for the second split of archery. As I rarely do, I sat in a blind on the edge of a plot. At one time, I had 6, of what I'll call spike bucks, in front of me at one time which leads into the question. 2 of these bucks had 1 inch spikes with body sizes that were not much bigger than a fawn. I wouldn't have even noticed them if they weren't 10' away from me at one time. Do you think these were early born fawns this year or young yearlings born the year before? FWIW I have seen some very small fawns this fall still wearing faint spots which I haven't seen in the prior falls

A 1" spike is likely a button buck (this years buck fawn). Spotted fawns this late are likely fawns of yearling does (last years fawns). Not 100% but likely.
